ECOM is seeking a highly motivated and curious Coffee Intern to join our New York office. This is an immersive, full-time opportunity designed for recent graduates who want to build a career in the global coffee industry.
Over the course of the internship, you will gain firsthand experience in coffee quality, physical trading operations, market fundamentals, and commercial support activities. You will work closely with experienced professionals across our coffee business while developing the foundational knowledge needed to grow into a future Management Trainee role.
What You'll Learn
This internship is designed to provide exposure to the core components of the coffee trade, including:
Coffee Quality & Sample Operations
Work in the coffee sample room supporting daily sample preparation and organization.
Learn the fundamentals of green coffee, coffee origins, grading, and quality characteristics.
Observe and participate in coffee roasting activities.
Support preparation of samples for customers and internal evaluations.
Develop an understanding of how quality impacts commercial decision-making.
Coffee Markets & Trading Fundamentals
Learn the basics of the coffee futures market and how futures are used within the coffee trade.
Gain exposure to market analysis, pricing concepts, and risk management fundamentals.
Develop an understanding of the coffee supply chain from producer to customer.
Operations & Commercial Support
Assist with contracts, documentation, and administrative processes.
Support maintenance and accuracy of internal databases and trading systems.
Perform clerical and operational tasks that support the daily activities of the coffee team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams involved in logistics, trading, and customer service.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree completed between May 2026 and August 2026.
Ability to work full-time in our New York office.
Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.
Candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future are not eligible for this position.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%), including potential domestic and international travel.
Preferred
Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills.
Interest in commodities, international trade, agriculture, finance, or supply chain operations.
Prior internship, academic project, or work experience demonstrating analytical or operational skills.
